Lightjar

A page that comes back to you.

(with your pencil mark still on it.)

One kind page a day, in a small creature's handwriting. Circle a word, or just read it. A few days later it comes back with what you told it.

Coming soon to Google Play

no keyboard. no streaks. no account.

A Lightjar page: a creature beside a glowing jar, the line 'You don't have to carry it all at once.', and the word 'okay' circled in pencil, dated Wed 23.

How it works

  1. 1.

    One page a day

A kind line, a dry little aside ("I tried. the jar was fine."), and three words you can circle. It arrives at 8:00, later on your slow days.

  2. 2.

    Answer with a pencil

Circle a word, tick Keep right in the notification, or draw anywhere on the page. No typing, no empty page to fill.

  3. 3.

    It comes back

"3 days ago you circled 'tired'. Today?" Add one more mark. After five visits the page is finished and stands on your shelf.

A notification you answer, not swipe away

Each notification is drawn on your phone the moment it arrives: cream in the morning, rose-grey in the rain, dim blue at night with the jar glowing.

Never more than two a day. Tap Not today and it rests.

A Lightjar notification: 'Slow is still a direction. (I would know.)' with a drawing of the creature lying down beside the jar, and two buttons, Keep and Not today.

What you write stays with you

  • Your marks, doodles and letters live only on your phone.
  • They are never uploaded and are left out of device backups.
  • No accounts, no ads, no location, no contacts.
  • Uninstall, and it's all gone.
